social networking

Posting in social networks for profit can be very challenging for the novice and the pro.  There are so many choices of social networking sites today that it is clearly overwhelming.  The numbers of good sites increases each day, but you can't do it all if you are looking for more traffic and moving up in the search engines.  the best thing to do is is to target social communities that are used by people who are most likely to be interested in the blog or online business you have to offer.

Don't head over to the biggest social sites on the web, such as MySpace, to do your social marketing. A big social network like MySpace is one of the least effective places to do social network marketing. It's too big, too general and too busy. You will have to work hard to make an impact as you reach past hundreds of millions of people who aren't interested in your content and products.

Much better results are obtained in some smaller nichier online communities where you can become well known and trusted. For less effort you will make a bigger impact. Smaller communities have a different culture which is focused on shared interests and concerns that leads to deeper relationships, trust and desire to help each other. This is what you want!

Here are some basic principles of Social Network Marketing:

Go to social sites like Blog Catalog, Stumbleupon, Digg etc. and find your niche market.
  • Don't do any actual marketing. Build genuine friendships, be a good friend who happens to have a related business or interest.
  • Be sincere and generous; help and listen; connect
  • Determine what the people in your niche want whether it is great content, products or services.
  • Build traffic to all pages that contain links to your web properties (business and/or blog).
  • Link to, trade content and promote others websites
  • Now step back and analyze where the majority of your traffic is coming from and putmore effort and time into those social networks.
